When God Has A Way, No Other Way Will Work: A new book by Amy Alford

Wife, daughter and friend are just a few of the hats that author, Amy Alford, wears on a daily basis. A professional photographer since 1989, Amy has photographed some of the world’s most powerful and respected leaders, including President George Bush, Jr. and his wife Laura, as well as former President George Bush, Sr., Oprah Winfrey, Benjamin Netanyahu, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Bill Cosby. However, nothing excites her more than capturing the special moments of children and families. She graduated from Brooks Photography Institute in Santa Barbara, California.

Amy has taken several mission trips and has had moving moments in poverty stricken places from Russian orphanages to small villages in Cuba. Amy enjoys her involvement in door-to-door ministry in foreign countries, prison ministry, Bible Study and her involvement in Fellowship Bible Church. Amy is also passionate about capturing God’s breathtaking nature with her camera. He creates it, and she captures it. She and her husband love to travel throughout the world. Her favorite places include her family farms in Ozark, Arkansas and McKinney, Texas, summers in Aspen Colorado and Santa Barbara, California. When she is not behind the camera, she loves adventure — activities like snow skiing, four-wheelers, paragliding, sky diving, bungee jumping and tennis. On the softer side, a beautiful sunset, thunderstorms and a good fire are among Amy’s favorite things.

Reaching out to people is one of Amy’s spiritual gifts, and Amy has devoted a lot of her time to Christian based organizations. She serves on the board of “Council for Life,” a Christ-centered organization that supports agencies that help women with unplanned pregnancies. Amy gladly donates her time and money to their cause. She also supports “Youth Believing in Change,” a ministry to under-privileged kids. Their after-school program teaches kids about the Bible, helps them with homework and gives them a snack while they wait for their parents to get home from work. This organization keeps kids off the streets and away from drugs.

Amy feels strongly about sponsoring short-term mission trips, following Christ’s command to “Go into all nations and spread the gospel.” She has been on mission trips with East West Ministries, a ministry that focuses on places in the world where less than 1% of the people have heard of Christ. She loves to go with them whenever her schedule permits. She also volunteers at her church in the prayer rooms and is a member of the hospital visitation team. Showing people there is someone who cares, especially in their time of need, is important to her. She and her husband, Ben, reside in Texas with their dog, Buddy.
